Palo Alto Chief Johnson retires weeks after firestorm on racial profiling remarks
After drawing accusations of racial profiling for her remarks about questioning black men in connection with a string of armed robberies, Palo Alto Police Chief Lynne Johnson announced Thursday afternoon that she is retiring after almost 34 years of service.

Over the summer, a wrangle between eminent psychiatrists that had been brewing for months erupted in print.
